Femtech Spain Market Map 2025

Last updated: August 25th, 2025

Spain’s Femtech landscape is still emerging, but quickly growing. According to Grand View Research, as of 2023, the Femtech market in Spain is valued at approximately USD 900 million, and is projected to reach USD 2.31 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.9%, versus a 10% in general digital health and 13.4% in smart healthcare

The ecosystem is still early-stage, with a strong concentration in digital health and reproductive health. Barcelona currently shows the higher concentration of start-ups, closely followed by Madrid. According to Tracxn, there are 371 funded Healthtech startups in Spain, which means that Femtech companies represent only 8% of the overall ecosystem.

Despite relatively low historic investment, recent years have shown increased interest from both public and private stakeholders. Public initiatives (such as approving menstrual leave, or subsidizing menstrual products) are pointing to broader societal support for women's health innovation. A national push for gender equity and digital health provides fertile ground for Femtech to scale in the coming decade.

Femtech in Spain 2025 Overview

In 2025, there are 25 active Femtech companies founded in Spain.

Majority of the start-ups are located in Barcelona (76%), with the remaining in Madrid (16%) and other regions of Spain (8%, namely Bilbao and Valencia). Whilst categories are quite evenly distributed, the Spanish Femtech industry's most prominent ones are Pregnancy & Maternal Health (24%) and Diagnostics & Women’s Health Biotech (20%). This strong concentration in these areas not only addresses crucial women's health needs but also signals significant potential for future growth and groundbreaking innovation in the country

Future outlook for the industry

Femtech Spain envisions a fully integrated, inclusive, and innovation-driven ecosystem for women’s health. In the next 5 to 10 years, we expect:

  • Increased public funding and regulatory support for Femtech

  • Greater investment from health insurers and corporates

  • The creation of national validation and reimbursement pathways

  • The continued development of Femtech clusters in Madrid and Barcelona, as well as further expansion in the rest of Spain

  • Femtech becoming a core vertical within Spain’s broader digital health strategy

Femtech Spain aims to be the backbone of this transformation—by mapping the ecosystem, connecting key players, advocating for better policy, and co-developing solutions with startups, researchers, and health providers.
